February 23rd 1917. Friday. Sinai now cleared

Two brigades (our own and NZealanders with artillery) left Massaid and marched on Khan Yunis a village just over the border in Palestine for purpose of reconnaissance. Our object achieved. Only five casualties on our side as far as known.
The march from Massaid to Khan Yunis and back to Shick Zowaiid was 54 miles (a long march). 
​The country looks beautiful and it looks like we have finished with the desert. 
El Arish was occupied by us on 20.12.16. Maghdhaba occupied 23.12.16 and Rafa on 10th January. Sinai now cleared.
