Whilst at Maadi Camp a stadium was formed and had a canteen attached. It was run by the Officers and Quartermasters and the spirits and beer sold there was of the lowest grade, yet the troops paid for the best. (Excerpt from diary, 5 April, 1916)
Leave in Cairo. J. A. Graham Arrived in Maadi feeling dead beat and pitched camp.
