Ma’adi a most beautiful little town with its fine big houses and boulevards and shady trees with gaudy blossoms. The town beautifully situated on the banks of the Nile.
On one side is the Libyan desert and the Mocattam Range where Napoleon built many forts (which still remain intact). On the other side is the famous Nile Valley and river where numerous native boats with huge lateen sails are going to and fro.
In the background can be seen large palm forests and behind that again the desert with the Pyramids of Giza and Memphis plainly visible. Looking towards Cairo one can see more forts of Napoleons from which he made his attack on Cairo. Then again are domes and minarets (reaching far in the sky) of the Citadel, Mosques and the tombs of the Mamelouks and Khalifs.
